Headaches and Migraines
We understand how frustrating having a headache is – it affects how you think, how you feel, and how you function!!!
A headache can be associated with many symptoms ranging from direct pain to just that feeling of constant ‘Brain fog’….
How we can help
Cervicogenic Headaches have a cause originating from the neck due to an imbalance in the spine, muscles, and nerves (1). Medication may reduce the pain but it often doesn’t solve the underlying problem.
The good news is that studies have shown that chiropractic care can improve migraines and cervicogenic headaches (2). A 2019 study also showed that chiropractic was more effective than mobilization and exercises for cervicogenic headaches (3).
Our approach
Our approach at The Surrey Chiropractor, is to examine the rest of your spine and body to see if there are any other areas that may be out of the balance, such as the TMJ (jaw) and other joints in your upper back. We look at your lifestyle for clues that might have caused the imbalance in the first place. These can include posture but also habits such as grinding or clenching the teeth. Dysfunction of the TMJ can affect the joints and muscles of the neck which can then in turn cause headaches. Many of the techniques used within SOT Chiropractic help release the fascia of the head and neck.
We help you focus on making supportive changes that can include exercise, nutrition, posture, and well-being.
